The pace of life we lead today makes it very difficult to combine work and family life. For this reason, any companies that “invest” in measures to make this "task" easier for its employees are valued most positively.

On Tuesday, 4 May, around 100 Mercabarna businessmen and women attended this presentation, organised by Mercabarna Licensees' Association (ASSOCOME).

Since mid-May, Mercabarna has once again been sponsoring ‘La salud al cistell’ (Health in the Shopping Basket), an informative programme on the Catalan channel TV3.

Mercabarna-flor celebrated the arrival of spring on 14 March with a party that drew around 400 florists. Europe’s reigning Floral Art champion, Nadine Weckardt from Germany, led the almost three-hour-long major floral demonstration dedicated to bridal bouquets and spring compositions.

Mercabarna and the city’s Municipal Markets Institute signed two agreements on 4 March with the Fish and Seafood Wholesale Dealers Association (GMP) to develop and promote the Interactive Fish Centre (CIP).

Mercabarna and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia signed an agreement in March to work together in the fields of research, technology and training via consultancy work and information exchanges.

Mercabarna’s streets, buildings and gardened areas were covered in a blanket of snow on 8 March when a heavy snowstorm hit Barcelona in the early afternoon.

Work began on the redevelopment of the land where the Flower Market used to be in Mercabarna in early March.

The new vehicle exit gate at Mercabarna that provides direct access onto calle F in the Zona Franca opened in early March.
