Around 400 Florists Take Part in Spring Festival
Ms Weckardt had many ideas about how to make arrangements that can help florists boost sales. The first part of the demonstration focused on bridal bouquets, some of which contained classic flowers, particularly roses, while others played with greenery, accessories and different types of wildflowers.
The second part covered the flowers and plants that announce the start of spring and took the form of colourful bouquets, imaginative plant compositions and inexpensive details using seasonal flowers.
Good Participation in the Bridal Bouquet Competition
One of the highlights of the event was the Bridal Bouquet Competition. Nearly 40 sector professionals entered the contest, which the chair of the jury, Jordi Abelló, described as “attracting a great many works of an extremely high quality”. The jury also included Concepció Montagut, Cristina Calzada and Jordi Busquets, and awarded two prizes, to the Best Bridal Bouquet and the Most Original Bridal Bouquet, while the third prize was determined by the public who voted for the winner in the Best Bridal Bouquet category.
A children’s workshop attended by around 50 boys and girls was also held throughout the morning, where participants created a spring bouquet and a centrepiece made from seasonal plants.
Upcoming Events: Mother’s Day and St George’s Day
Mercabarna-flor will hold another floral art demonstration on 12 April, focused on providing florists with techniques and ideas to improve sales on Mother’s Day and St George’s Day.
