Recommendations on Christmas purchases from the fish and fruit guilds

17 December saw over 20 representatives of the media attend a press conference given by the Barcelona and Province Fresh and Frozen Fish and Seafood Wholesale Consignees’ Guild (GMP) and the Fruit and Vegetable Wholesalers’ Guild of Barcelona and Province (AGEM) to guide and advise consumers on their fresh produce purchases for this Christmas season.

Support for potential export businesses

On 25 November, Mercabarna helped the Catalan Export Promotion organisation Prodeca, Acc10 and the Fruit and Vegetable Wholesalers’ Guild of Barcelona and Province (AGEM) organise a day-long meeting to boost the internationalisation of fruit and vegetable wholesale companies.

Collaboration with ‘El Marató’ on TV3

Once again this year, Mercabarna and the Fruit and Vegetable Wholesalers’ Guild of Barcelona and Province (AGEM) collaborated with ‘El Marató’ (The Marathon) on the Catalan language channel TV3 by donating fruit and vegetables to round out the meals for the volunteers who took part in the programme.

Mercabarna presents award for best white fish recipe

“Baked monkfish with porcini mushrooms, spring onions, meat juices and squid noodles.” With this recipe, Steven Liébana, chef at the Restaurante Quintaesencia of Palencia, won the First ‘Anzuelo de Oro’ Culinary Competition in the white fish category.

Imaginative Christmas creations to combat economic downturn

Some 800 florists from throughout Catalonia took part in MercaNadal-Fresc, a day-long event organised by Mercabarna-flor on 30 November. Its purpose was to present the latest trends in decorative ornaments with plants, flowers and accessories for this Christmas.
