A new feature of this event is that workers at the companies in the zone will be able to participate in teams in the second edition of this race, which will take place on Sunday the 2nd of October.

Mercabarna is already warming up its engines for this sporting event, a big party where participants and residents can enjoy a day of activities related to sport and healthy eating. The race will once again be of 5 and 10 km and will be run along the streets and past the facilities of the premises. 

A new feature this year is the fact that employees of Mercabarna's companies can participate in the 5 km race in teams (mixed, male and female) of four people, and the winner will be the team with the best time. Companies working here therefore have another way to get involved in the race, in addition to supporting the event as sponsors or providing fresh produce for the runners' bags or the various events of the day.

As well as the sporting event, during the day there will be activities for all the family and a charity meal to raise money for the Red Cross's food projects for children.

Last years race, a great success

More than 3,000 people ‒1,520 runners, as well as their family and other citizens - attended the 1st Mercabarna Race, which was held on the 4th of October 2015. Despite it being the first time an event of this magnitude had been planned, more than twenty companies from various sectors there and the four Company Associations (Assocome, AGEM, GMP and AEM) gave their support to the initiative. The meal raised 3,000€ for charity, which was donated to the "Marató de TV3 ".
