According to Lluís Alberich, Mercabarna’s Industrial and Services manager, this move seeks “to facilitate employee mobility for Mercabarna businesses which also have storage space at 22AL, i.e., on the property adjoining the Food Unit precinct”. The new accesses are open Monday to Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Furthermore, 100 metres of pavement have been built around the doors to ensure pedestrian safety. The opening of the two walkways is part of the Mercabarna Mobility Plan, which aims to regulate and facilitate the circulation of people, vehicles and goods within the Food Unit.

Other improvements to Calle Longitudinal 11
Parallel to the construction of the accesses, July also saw the repair of part of the pavement on Calle Longitudinal 11 which had been seriously worn by heavy vehicle traffic.
