The day-long event will include numerous activities, most notably fish handling competitions, in which both wholesalers and retailers will have the opportunity of proving their abilities in fish cutting and preparation.

Guests are also welcomed to visit the exhibition on the Central Fish Market’s history and to take part in the Fish Wheel game, through which they will be eligible to win numerous prizes by showing their knowledge of the sector.

Other morning features will include breakdance and capoeira classes and workshops in balloon twisting, make-up, storytelling, magic tricks and inflatable castles for the children. The day will draw to a close with a large meal for all.

Dinner for Market business owners
To further commemorate this anniversary, the Wholesalers Association will host a dinner to which all Market business owners will be invited and which will be held on 4 October.

1st Fish Wholesalers Congress
On 29 and 30 October, and coinciding with the celebration of the Market’s 25th anniversary, the 1st Congress of the National Association of Spanish Fish Wholesalers (Anmape) will be held in Barcelona. This entity groups together over 380 sector companies that operate in 12 Spanish wholesale markets.

The Congress, organised by the GMP, will address the sector’s future problems and challenges, such as the need to promote fish consumption and make society familiar with the work of the wholesale sector. It will include a visit to Mercabarna’s Central Fish Market facilities.
