The purpose of the visit was to establish possible channels for collaboration in order to provide advice for Mercabarna companies interested in exporting products.

Moreover, on 11 July, Espen Hanson, future director of the Norwegian Seafood Export Council’s office for Spain and Portugal, visited Mercabarna to learn about the evolution of the commercialisation of Norwegian products in the Central Fish Market, especially salmon. Mr Hanson, who will succeed the current director Arne Sorvig, will head this Council as of 1 September. Created by the Norwegian government, its job is to promote that country’s fish consumption and export.
