However, the solidarity of the businesses was shown in other ways as well. Vallesana de Manutención, the car repair shop located at Mercabarna, gave the Food Bank a reefer container which will make it possible to receive more fresh produce at the warehouse that Mercabarna has ceded to the bank.

Success of the morning timetable
Part of this highly positive result can be attributed to the fact that opening the Food Bank in the mornings has been very successful. Since this began in mid-February, 60,800 kg of fruit and vegetables, some 25% of total donations, has been collected in the morning hours.
As Food Bank volunteer Carlos Lázaro explains, "Companies that were already providing food are now coming in the mornings and on a more regular basis too. But so are others that weren’t previously involved who find that the morning hours work better for them." Extending the opening hours has been made possible thanks to the effort and good work of the team of nine volunteers.
For the second year in a row, the Bank will open in August from 12 pm to 5 pm Mondays to Fridays. In September it will resume its regular timetable, from 10 am to 5 pm Mondays to Fridays.
