Sònia Recasens, New Chair of Mercabarna

Sònia Recasens was appointed the new chair of Mercabarna at the company’s Board of Directors meeting on 3 November. Ms Recasens, who succeeds Jordi William Carnes, is the deputy mayor of Barcelona for Economics, Enterprise and Employment. She has been a city councillor for the Convergence and Union party since 1999 and a Mercabarna board member since November 2007.

The senior vice-chair continues to be David Chica, director of Sales Structures at the national company Mercasa. The new junior vice-chair is Jordi Joly, replacing Mateu Hernández. Mr Joly is currently the head of Economics, Enterprise and Employment at Barcelona City Council.

Also at the meeting, the board decided to raise the number of board members from 15 to 17, and five new appointments were made: three from Barcelona Serveis Municipals (Joaquim Forn, Constantí Serrallonga and Raimon Blasi), one from Mercasa (Álvaro Curiel) and one from the Barcelonès Regional Council (Jordi Martí).
