Mercabarna and AGEM at Fruit Logistica


Mercabarna and the Barcelona and Province Fruit and Vegetable Wholesalers Business Association (AGEM) have taken part for the first time, and in joint fashion, in Fruit Logistica, one of the world’s most important sector trade fairs, held in Berlin from 9 to 11 February. This year’s event drew over 2,500 exhibitors from around the world and 56,000 visitors from 132 different countries.
Aware of its importance, Mercabarna and the AGEM participated with a stand in the Cataluña-Prodeca area with the goal of boosting the international profile of Mercabarna’s fruit and vegetable sector and capturing potential European customers. Around 100 fruit and vegetable industry professionals, particularly from East European countries such as Poland, Russia and Slovakia, showed an interested in finding suppliers at Mercabarna.
As in previous years, a good number of Mercabarna businesses also took part, either as visitors or exhibitors. This year 12 companies had stands at the fair: Hermanos Fernández López, CMR Group, Nufri Sat 1596, Frutas Plasencia, Grupo Diego Martínez, Hermanos Granero, Kopfsalat Trade, Frutinter, Joaquin Llusar y Cía, Torres Hnos., Grupo Lorenzo Carrasco and Cultivar.
The Mercabarna/AGEM stand was also visited by the new Catalan Agriculture Minister, Josep Maria Pelegrí, who met with Mercabarna managing director Montserrat Gil de Bernabé.
