The non-profit association Voluntarios en Asesoría Empresarial (Business Advisory Volunteers, or VAE) is promoting work experience positions for Latin American university graduates in Catalan companies to complete their education and to provide them with a chance to learn about business models in other countries. Mercabarna is taking part in the initiative by fostering placements among market firms.

The idea is for a number of companies to host the 21-to-23-year-old Food Industry Engineering graduates from the Litoral Polytechnic University of Guayaquil, Ecuador. The experience will enable them to carry out tasks related to food hygiene, quality control, food analysis and other areas.
