Barcelona, world food capital in April
February 2018
Mercabarna will play an especially important role, as it will lead the Conference of the World Union of Wholesale Markets and will participate in the Alimentaria fair.
This coming April, the food sector will come together in Barcelona, where two international events will be held, with Mercabarna playing a central role.
From April 16-18, Mercabarna will organize the 33rd Conference of the World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM), which in this edition will focus on the theme "The markets of the future: responsible and efficient". From this starting point, participants from around the world will have an opportunity to get to know different experiences in wholesale market management, where corporate social responsibility will play a key role. For example, projects to reduce food waste, promote healthy living or sustainability will be promoted.

At the same time, the 41st edition of the Alimentaria Fair, a point of reference for the world food industry, will be held. On this occasion, Mercabarna will participate in the fair by recovering the theme of the conference to promote initiatives that show commitment to the social environment and efficiency in environmental management. It will do so from the institutional stand located in Pavilion 2 of the Gran Via area of the Fira de Barcelona (Mediterranean Foods Space, stand 635).
