Mercabarna will be present at the Alimentaria Food Fair
April 2016
Alimentaria, the biennial food and beverage fair, will take place from 25 to 28 April in Barcelona. Once again, Mercabarna will participate with a stand from where it will present the corporate social responsibility and sustainability activities and projects that it fosters, in addition to highlighting the value of local products.
Mercabarna will participate in Alimentaria 2016, a fair which for the last forty years has been a showcase for all that is new in the food industry, as well as national and international trends. The last event was attended by 140,386 visitors, 30% of whom were from outside Spain.
Mercabarna will have an institutional stand at the event in the Multi-product Pavilion (stand A-89, pavilion 2), where the corporate social responsibility initiatives in which it is a leader will be highlighted.
Projects such as cooperating with the Food Bank, the promotion of employment through fellowships Mercabarna scholarships and the promotion of healthy eating habits through children's campaigns will be highlighted. In addition, there will be a focus on the key role Mercabarna plays as a platform enabling the supply of local products to Catalan consumers.
Furthermore, the aim is for the Mercabarna stand to be a meeting place for all the Mercabarna companies that attend the fair, as well as a place where they can establish business contacts.
Participation in various activities at the exhibition
The Observatory of Mercabarna Trends will also play a special role in Alimentaria this year. On 27 April, it will present a new study on the digital trade of fresh and processed food products.
As in previous years, Mercabarna will also provide fruit and vegetables for the 'Congress of the Mediterranean Diet' and for 'Spain: the Land of 100 Chees', an exhibition and cheese-tasting event including products from all over the territory.
