On 2 October, Mercabarna hosted a meeting among the Mercabarna management, the manager of Mercavalencia, José Joaquín García; the manager of Mercamurcia, Martín Peña, and the manager of Mercamurcia's flower market, Elías Celdrán; and the Mercasa representative, Silvia Llerena, to talk about the situation in the flower sector. Mercabarna, Mercavalencia and Mercamurcia are the only food outlets in all the Merca markets with a wholesale flower and plant market.

Those at the meeting analysed topics of interest in these markets and exchanged information on various aspects of marketing (volume of sales, business developments, clients, etc.). The possibility of undertaking joint co-operation initiatives, in fields such as promotion, participation at shows and conferences, etc., which can help to overcome the difficulties currently faced by the sector, was also discussed.
