The fish sector analyses the marketing of fresh anchovies

On 5 October, representatives of the fish marketing sector, including representatives of the Wholesale Dealers Association (GMP), the Retailers Association and Mercabarna, met managers at the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Issues to discuss marketing fresh anchovies. The main subject at the meeting was compliance with the regulations stipulating the minimum length and weight of this species for it to be sold. According to Royal Decree 560/1995 and Regulation (CE) 2406/96, fresh anchovies less than 9 centimetres long and with a grammage of less than 125 units per kilo cannot be sold. After finding out the sector's impressions, it was agreed to hold further meetings to talk about progress in this area.
