During the months of May and June, various fairs have been held such as the Asparagus Fair in Gavà, the St Isidore Fair –named after the patron saint of farmers – in Viladecans, and the Cherry Fair in Torroelles de Llobregat and El Papiol. And once again, Mercabarna decided to collaborate with these activities, offering gifts to the producers who take part. Additionally, Montserrat Gil de Bernabé, Mercabarna's Managing Director, was present at the traditional closing dinner at Gavà’s Asparagus Fair, where she awarded a plaque to a farming family from the town in recognition of its achievements.

Promoting health and sport
In June, Mercabarna and the Association of Fruit and Vegetable Wholesale Dealers of Barcelona and Province (AGEM) also collaborated with the schoolchildren's Triathlon and the Biathlon. These sporting trials, organised by Barcelona City Council, seek to encourage youngsters to do more physical activity. The collaboration consisted of donating fruit to the schoolchildren who were participating in the swimming, cycling and athletics trials.
