On 24 March, 15 students from the course “Fruiticulture Enterprises” taught by the Escuela de Capacitación Agraria (Agriculture School) of Alfarràs, Lleida, visited the Central Fruit and Vegetable Market, accompanied by Mercabarna’s managing director, Montserrat Gil of Bernabé, and Market director Josep Faura. These students, who are training to be agricultural business owners (some already have fruit farms in Lleida province), saw how the Market works firsthand and learned how to adapt their productions to this centre’s marketing needs. In addition to the visit, the young agriculturalists took part in a talk given by Ramón Lletjós, undersecretary of Agriculture for the Catalan government, which focused on the OCM (Common Markets Organisation) for the fruit and vegetable sector.
