The Catalan Public Health Agency, Mercabarna and the Association of Fruit and Vegetable Wholesale Dealers of Barcelona and Province (AGEM) have launched a campaign to remind wholesalers and buyers alike that smoking is prohibited inside the Market facilities. For this reason, we have placed different signs with the “No Smoking” symbol inside and at the entrances to the Market pavilions. And we have also begun distributing a leaflet to Market users to remind them of the current legislation in this regard. It is now over three years since Law 28/2005 went into effect, banning smoking in public and private workplaces located in closed spaces. However, it should also be remembered that since 1985 smoking has also been prohibited in shopping centres and in areas and establishments where food is produced, processed, prepared or sold.
