On 22 January, Daniel Martínez, Head of the Central Fish Market at Mercabarna, gave a lecture at the Higher Technical Agricultural College of Barcelona (ESAB) as part of the Master’s programme in Aquiculture in which the three main Catalan universities jointly take part (University of Barcelona, Autonomous University of Barcelona and Polytechnic University of Catalonia). This Master’s degree is aimed at graduates and higher technicians who want to train in different areas related to aquiculture.

Within this framework, Martínez spoke about the specific weights that aquiculture products have in the Central Fish Market, and also the role that this centre has in the distribution chain of sea products.
