Mercabarna’s collaboration basically consisted of acting as a model for the recording of a video that shows the process animals undergo from the time they arrive by lorry until they are prepared for slaughter, as well as the treatment they receive by Slaughterhouse employees.

The Catalan government has passed a decree regulating content and official European Union approval for animal welfare courses, which are now compulsory and free of charge to staff that work with animals, especially in such basic activities as transport, sacrifice, slaughter and care and handling, both on livestock farms and at slaughterhouses.
