Airport health inspection offers extended service

18th December 2007

Following a request from ASSOCOME (the Market Concessionaries’ Association), the health inspection point at Barcelona Airport will provide a service, on a once-off basis, on December 22, 23, 29 and 30. This is an extended service of this inspection point, which does not generally open on Saturdays or Sundays.

ASSOCOME made this request, further to talks with the Government Delegation in Catalonia, with the aim of speeding up the movement of the large quantities of goods, particularly fresh fish and seafood, that arrive at this time of year.

As ASSOCOME head, César González, explains, “This is a very significant development for businesspeople as there is huge commercial activity at this time of year and time is a key factor in the reception and distribution of perishable goods.” Inspections will be carried out until 2 p.m. over the four days in question.
